Welcome to our Website
Since its foundation in the 1960s the Civic Society has sought to monitor and influence the changes taking place in the City Centre. Today, as the pace of change increases, we are working as hard as ever. We hold regular meetings for all members, often with guest speakers, and our Planning Sub-committee meets regularly to discuss major applications. The Society is represented on the County Council's Conservation Area Advisory Committee and liases closely with Carrick District Council's Planning Department. Recently our members have spoken at Carrick Planning Commitee meetings and at Planning Appeal hearings.
We are currently working with City businesses to encourage them to improve the appearance of the upper storeys and roofs of their buildings.
In this academic year, our Chairman has very successfully initiated a series of talks to students at local schools and colleges with the theme of " Truro-a city at the crossroads"
With more members we could do much more!
